About Us - Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)
At Railways in the Niagara Region, a lot of the questions we're
asked are similar or identical in scope. Here's some of the more
commonly asked questions, along with some answers.
- Who runs Railways in the Niagara Region?
Railways in the Niagara Region was originally started by a private
individual to showcase and promote their interest in local railway
history, geography, and current news. Since then, more have joined
the effort. The site is now owned and operated by a small group
of hobbyists, who have chosen to remain largely anonymous, as an
outlet for their shared hobby of all forms of transportation.
- Does Railways in the Niagara Region accept
contributions and submissions?
No. Any material on the site is produced solely by the owners.
- Are any of the photos for sale?
No. Railways in the Niagara Region is a not-for-profit hobby
site, and doesn’t sell or purchase any items from the website.
- I really like the Train Gifs. Can I use them on my own
website?
Train Gifs can be downloaded for non-commercial, personal uses.
There are some guidelines and restrictions on using them on other
websites – for more information, please read the Train Gifs Usage
page.
- What are those gradient lines on some of the photos?
For a few years, we used a film processing store that, for some
unknown reason, produced prints that don’t scan well on the film
scanner we use; we’ve since changed processors. The solution to
removing the lines is either to purchase a new scanner, or re-print
all of the affected photos. Both options are cost-prohibitive at
this time.
- I’m looking to plan a trip on the train. Can you help
me?
Sorry, but Railways in the Niagara Region doesn’t help with
travel plans. For more information on North American rail travel,
we suggest you visit the websites of either
Via Rail Canada or
Amtrak.
