Remains of Welland Canal Bridge #10 (157 KB) Date: June 2004

Description: The west approach to the former Bridge #10. The rails of the track still remain, albeit half-buried. The bridge was a single track lift span that carried the former Thorold Sub from one side of the Welland Canal to another.

Description: The eastern shore of the former Bridge #10. The abutments, half-buried rails, and scars on the landscape are the only remnants left. The former Thorold Sub, which used to cross the bridge, is abandonned on the west side of the canal, and runs north of Hayes-Dana and the QUNO paper mill on the east side of the canal.

Description: On the west side of the Welland Canal, a mile marker of the former Thorold Sub is one of the only remaining physical items left to show where the old line ran. Further west, the line used to join with a wye to the Canal Spur (now operated by Trillium Railway).

Description: A Trillium Railway Hi-Rail truck runs north on the former CN Canal Spur line. The bridge crosses over one of the former Welland Canals, while semi-visible in the background is the red hull of the CSL Niagara transiting the current Welland Canal.
