Description: A broadside view of UP Big Boy #4012. The Big Boy steam engines, built in the 1940's by the American Locomotive Company (ALCo), were, and still are, the world's largest steam locomotives. Their 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement means the boiler has to be articulated to fit around curves. I don't think this photo does justice to the sheer size of this locomotive.
